Care Keep the ootheca in a suitable container and ensure it is kept warm and a little humid. The eggs have been through diapause and will hatch in an average of 2 months (8 weeks). 1-2 days after hatching feed with fruit flies, micro crickets or similar sized prey. The Chinese mantis is hardy and very easy to care for. Once hatched the mantis will need light misting every other day. The mantis will happily live at room temperature. Keep in a container a minimum of 3 times the size of the mantis. The mantis will need separating otherwise they will eat each other. Please contact me if you have any questions. I cannot be responsible for any eggs not hatching due to not knowing how they were kept after arrival. I will post Monday-Thursday only to ensure minimal time in the post. Cold weather will not effect the Ootheca, keeping it cold will just slow down development. These Ootheca can overwinter in cold conditions in the wild and are sometimes kept in garages or fridges to delay hatching. You can keep cool for a couple of months to ensure you are ready for hatching.
