Cetyl alcohol is a widely used nonionic surfactant derived from a vegetable source like coconut oil and palm oil. and is a fatty alcohol. used in a variety of applications. Used as an Emulsifier, thickener, emollient and in personal care items like lotions and creams, shampoos and conditioners. It is a very effective emulsifier and thickener that helps form very stable emulsions in water-in-oil (full moisturizer) and oil-in-water (oil-free lotion) preparations.
Sometimes used along with emulsifying wax, which we also carry.
Cetyl alcohol, is also called 1-hexadecanol and palmityl alcohol, is a solid organic compound and a member of the alcohol class of compounds. At room temperature, cetyl alcohol takes the form of a waxy white solid or flakes. It belongs to the group of fatty alcohols.
Other applications include use as a water based lubricant for fasteners such as nuts and bolts.
