Alt saxophon „Holton Sax“ gebraucht

Ich verkaufe hier ein mir sehr liebgewonnenes Saxophon, (der Koffer ist auch so alt, und hat deutliche Gebrauchsspuren ) welches mein Onkel, der in einer Band in den 50igern spielte, von einem GI gleich nach dem 2. Weltkrieg kaufte. Als er verstarb, bewahrte meine Mutter dieses auf. Ich spielte es ca. 2 Jahre und merkte, daß es mein Herz doch eher zu meiner Gitarre zog. Es handelt sich hier nicht um einen Notverkauf.

Das Sax wurde, wie sie auch auf den Bildern sehen können generalüberholt ( Fa. Reisser/ Ulm ).  Anhand der Seriennummern, die im Internet kursieren wäre das Baujahr auf 1914 zu datieren. Der S-Bogen ist aus dem Jahr 1911, warum auch immer. Muss der GI in den USA gekauft haben. Es hat einen ausgesprochen warmen und weichen Klang, nicht so wie viele neuere Saxe. Auch spricht es leicht an. Ich weiß, daß es viele günstige Saxophone auf dem Markt gibt, aber der Preis ist sicher nicht alles. Möglicherweise gibt es nicht mehr als 3-4 gleichaussehende Modelle. Apart from brass-wind instruments the Frank Holton Company (Elkhorn/Wisconsin)

has been producing saxophons and clarinets, too, since the beginning of the 20th century. In order to offer a wide-range delivery program other manufacturers (like Conn), whose own manufacturing wouldn`t have been profitable, were also asked to construct sax models(for example bass saxophones).

Holton has constructed a rather particular saxophone, the „Rudy-Wiedoeft-Model“. Its caracteristics: additional pads and thrill keys,.... and a solid construction method (similar to Martin).

The Company Frank Holton was busy for Lyon & Healy, too, and was taken over by Leblanc/USA in about 1950.

LP  means Low Pitch and corresponds to 440 Hz for note A, whereas HP means High Pitch and corresponds to 457 Hz for note A. Only in 1939 a homogeneous international pitch of 440 Hz for note A has been arranged in London. The Company Leblanc itself has been constructing saxophones (of tradmark „Vito“) in the workshops of Holton and Martin for several years which of course didn`t reach the quality of the older instruments. Not long ago the Company Leblanc sold Japanese saxophones (Yanagisawa) under the trademark „Martin“.

Companies of the best time of saxophone manufacturing don`t exist anymore. Saxophones of today are unimportant. The saxophones of the years from 1910 to about the midst of 1950 are the only which have remained. Today they are the most sold instruments which are partly traded to incredible prices. Manufacturers try to regain the sound of these instruments in their own modern saxophones today. There is a wide-range research in this area. Material is tested, new pads are designed, mechanics are refined and they experiment with mouth pieces.

Nevertheless there is no manufacturer up to now who has succeeded in generate such a sound the American saxophones had.

For this reason there are always players who own a good „Vintage“ because the sound of these saxophones is unique and is only   found with saxophones from America. Therefore the prices for „Vintages“ from America are increasingly rising. And for this reason everybody should have played a „Vintage“ once in their life.

This Holton Alto Sax  „Low Pitch“(serial 29211) is from approximately 1914. This horn is MINT !!!!!! This Holton is the "Mintiest" you are going ot find...in about 99% condition for an 90 year old saxophone. It plays as well as it looks...fantastic! It`s outside Silver-plated and a gold-plated inner bell. No dents.
