WHAT IS IT?

When you need your project to grow quickly you need a big tool!  These 10mm & 12mm bamboo knitting needles and 15mm and 20mm wooden knitting needles are as big as they come in a standard 35cm length.

WHAT'S IT FOR?

Use these needles for three very different techniques:

First is easy - if you have a super chunky or mega chunky knitting yarn that needs big, fat needles, just choose your size and you're sorted!  Perfect for knitting into really quick hats, scarves, mitts and cowls.

Second is for extreme knitting, which is a term used for knitting very thick yarns into very thick fabrics and these needles are perfect for that.  You can use a lightly twisted roving, very thick mega chunky yarns or strand up multiple ends to create a multi coloured super thick yarn.  Make interior items such as cushions, throws, runners and blankets.  The length of these tools means that you won’t be able to make a huge blanket all in one go, but you could make strips and stitch them together and they are much easier to handle than the very long extreme tools. 

Stranding multiple yarns is great for stash-busting and adds loads of character, colour and texture to projects.  Add boucles and glitters for touches of interest or if you work with rug yarns you’ll have a piece strong and tough enough to be walked onto – a runner, rug, bath mat etc.

The third technique is the complete reverse to extreme knitting and that is broomstick knitting.  This is where you work with the very finest yarns on these huge needles for an instant lace look.  Yarns such as fine mohairs work particularly well and just 50g of a 2ply or 4ply mohair should create a really long, floaty, dreamy scarf.  Broomstick knitting works best with yarns that have a bit of fluff to them – angora, mohair, fluffy acrylics etc as they bulk out the holes slightly.  You’ll be able to work up a scarf or shawl in no time.
