Hergé’s Tintin ‘Voir et Savoir’ (See and Know) Aviation No.1 Gloster Gladiator print, dating to the 1950’s.
Presenting this original vintage colour chromograph ‘chromo’ print of Hergé’s TinTin stood alongside his trusty companion Snowy the dog, both set beneath a Royal Air Force Gloster Gladiator aircraft in flight.
This chromo was part of a collection of 60 titled ‘The Aviation War 1939 to 1945’. Each chromo features comic book hero TinTin wearing different attire and an aircraft of the British, American, German and Japanese air forces. The chromos could be acquired by collecting tokens that were printed in the TinTin newspaper and on everyday food and household product packaging such as biscuits, pasta, margarine and soap. Tokens were exchanged for chromos which were designed to be stuck on the corresponding page of a specially printed book, much like modern day football sticker albums.
This particular chromo is in fine condition and is non-permanently mounted between a dark
blue cardboard backboard and a light cream cardboard frontboard, both measuring 290mm by 220mm. Ready to be framed.
Dispatched in a biobased compostable protective plastic wrapper within secure packaging on a tracked delivery service.
