4 Jaw scroll chuck for woodlathes.

Part of the new Viper range from Charnwood. A compact scroll chuck, with the jaws adjusted by a geared mechanism for simple one handed operation. Self centring, high precision design. Ideal for Mini and Midi sized lathes.

The standard dovetail jaws can grip the workpiece both internally or externally depending on the style and shape of the piece to be turned.   The chuck fits directly onto lathes with headstock thread size 1'' x 8tpi and also available is an adaptor for using the chuck with all lathes which have a 3/4'' x 16tpi the viper2#IN

We also include a wood screw which clamps into the centre of the chuck for the initial mounting of bowl blanks.

Supplied with dovetail jaws, wood screw, T-bar for locking the jaws, T-handled hex key for swapping the jaws.

3. V2FP Face Plate Ring for Viper2 Chuck

Face Plate Ring for Viper2 Chuck.

The face plate ring has a 65mm outside diameter and has a dovetail shaped inside which can be gripped by using the standard Viper2 jaws. The face plate ring has 8 countersunk screw holes and is used instead of a threaded face plate so that you do not have to remove the chuck form the lathe to mount a bowl blank.

The face plate ring can be used on any chuck capable of expanding into a 40mm diameter dovetail.

4. V2IP Indexing Plate for Viper2 Chuck

Indexing Plate for Viper2 Chuck.

The indexing plate fits onto the back of the Viper2 chuck, replacing the blank plate supplied as standard. It has 24 numbered positions set out at 15 degree intervals. Each position has a pin hole in the back of the plate and a slot in the side of the plate. An indexing attachment can then be used to add decorative features to a spindle or bowl at set intervals. 

The indexing plate is 5mm thick, 70mm outside diameter with two 3mm countersink holes at 62mm between centres.

5. V2PJ Pin Jaws for Viper2 Chuck

Pin Jaws for Viper2 Chuck.

Set of 4 optional jaws for Viper2 geared scroll chuck. Pin jaws allow smaller pieces to held than the standard jaws. The inside is smooth and parallel, the outside is serrated for maximum grip. The jaws project 29mm from the base plate.

Set of 4 optional jaws for Viper2 geared scroll chuck. The Wide jaws have a serrated edge both internally and externally and can grip much larger pieces than the standard jaws. Projects 13mm from base plate.

Ripple Jaws for Viper2 Chuck.

Set of 4 optional jaws for the Viper2 geared scroll chuck. The top edge of the jaws has a dovetail on both inside and the outside, and works exactly like the standard jaws. Further down the  jaw is the unique Ripple pattern on both the inside and the outside, which is designed to give a strong grip on rough, uneven wood or even bark covered logs. Jaws project 24mm from the base plate.

Set of 4 optional jaws for our Viper2 scroll chuck. These jaws are deeper than the standard dovetails jaws supplied with new chucks. The inside is parallel and serrated for maximum grip, 25mm deep. The outside is dovetailed and projects 16mm from the base plate.

Set of 4 optional jaws for our Viper2 scroll chuck. These extended pin jaws have are dovetailed on the outside. The internal edge is flat, forming a square when closed, perfect for gripping square shaped spigots. The jaws project 42mm from the base plate.

• Expands from 24mm to 48mm
• Contracts from 32mm to 8mm

These jaws are ideal for gripping square wooden or acrylic pen blanks for drilling out the centre.

Bowl reversing jaws, also known as Cole jaws or Flat jaws are most commonly used for remounting finished bowls to re-shape the outside or to remove unwanted spigots, recesses or jaw marks.

The jaws are 120mm diameter when closed, 144mm diameter when opened. the work piece is held in place by 8 rubber coated fixings which can be fitted in 3 different positions on the jaws depending on the diameter required. 

• For bowl diameters from 54mm up to 120mm.
• Please note max. rpm 600.

Supplied with 2 sets of rubber coated fixings;
