PREDICTA-RESTORED-Philco Princess 17” Looks and Plays Great-NOS CRT & More! Reduced!
This is a classic and high demand vintage tv-A 17” Philco Predicta Princess model that I restored from top to bottom and it works great. It was made in 1959 so it's 59 years old. With the amount of detailed restoration work done, its likely to last another 59 years.
The cabinet has been freshly POWDER coated. The pictures show how good it looks.
I am pleased to say that this set features a NOS Philco picture tube. It’s original and will give years of good service.
Brightness, contrast, and focus are all flawless on this set. You can count the scan lines.
The sound from a large magnet 4” x 6” speaker is loud and clear.
The safety lens has been cleaned and polished. There are no cracks.
The beige plastic rear cover of the picture tube has been cleaned and waxed. A lot of effort went into the improvements.
This set will perform well on cable and satellite or you can watch dozens of local channels with a digital converter.
Most use a DVD player; the DVDs of the old shows are especially popular. It's shown working on cable.
I have specialized in restoration of vintage tvs for over 25 years. Many of my sets have been rented for movies and other events.
I've sold many, many restored Philco Predictas-and others-on eBay.
I also restore radios and sell vintage vacuum tubes and other parts from being in the business and collecting for more than 50 years.
Out of college with a M.S. physics and math degree in 1967, I taught physics for 10 years at a north Dallas high school. My side tv business was growing to the point that I began selling pre-owned color tvs full time in 1977. Soon, we were averaging 100 sets per month and this went on for almost 20 years.
I added big dish satellite systems in 1982. Through the early 2000's,we installed hundreds in Texas schools, colleges, and residences.
This Predicta has been gone through, just like we did in the early days of black and white tv. Cleaned, aligned, all tubes test like new and most are.
Note that it has the built-in antenna as well as the original red Predicta rear cover.
Further, I built a test jig specifically for Predictas. It's one of a kind and makes the restoration process a breeze.
Key components such as electrolytic capacitors and paper capacitors have been replaced. Out of tolerance resistors have been replaced.
• Modifications and preventive maintenance were done. The entire PC board was cleaned with alcohol and Q-Tips. Further, this included coating the flyback high voltage transformer with multiple coats of high voltage insulating corona dope. It also included my going over most of the chassis with a wire wheel in my Dremel tool.
This one will give trouble-free service for years to come. The replacement parts are far better than the originals. I’ve sold several like this recently and the feedback on it was great.
For safety, I'll ship it in a heavy duty CUSTOM made box (not cheap!) with easy to follow directions. Greyhound Package Express is preferred. Federal Express is 2nd.
I am listing a flat rate of $235 for shipping. This figure may be adjusted up-or down, depending on your location. I do not charge for packing materials or labor. Local pickup is always welcome.
If shipping, allow 10 business days for final testing, etc.This extra time will be for procuring the double wall box (a half day round trip to Ft. Worth) and rechecking everything. Incidentally, you'll find the boxes I use worth keeping.
