Pioneer PD-801 (Early version TAD-2001) Driver Pair - Exlnt - One Good, One Bad. You are bidding on a pair of excellent physical condition Pioneer PD-801 horn drivers. These are the highly sought after beryllium diaphragm predecessors to the TAD-2001. One driver is working perfectly. The other driver's diaphragm has a large hole in it and is not usable. If you are looking at this ad, then you know what these drivers are. You should also know that the Beryllium diaphragms are the most sought after diaphragms in the world for their sound quality and are extremely expensive. If you too have a single working unit, now is your chance to get a second unit for a pair. And, if my dead driver is in better physical condition than yours, you get this free clean driver to mount your good diaphragm in. Or maybe you've been hoarding diaphragms and can make the repair to this dead one?? I've heard that it may be possible to retrofit a TAD 2001 diaphragm into these but that's way beyond my skill. Anyway, I'm using other drivers now and need these to find a new home. About the pictures: You can see the general condition is quite good. I've used a flashlight to show the one driver has a hole and you can see light through it. The other driver has no light through it. No cracks, no holes. The foam dampers in the back of the driver covers had deteriorated and was removed. Buyer will want to replace the foam there. I have measured the good driver and shown the plot. You can see that it is performing as expected with a decently smooth response and extension to 20KHz (reponse smoothness subject to my measurement conditions which is not laboratory - so pay no attention to the wiggles as those are just reflections from the test environment, the missing foam in back cover, and horn used). These drivers measure with less HF downward slope and higher HF extension than JBL LE85 drivers tested under identical conditions. They are definitely superior drivers to the LE85 in this regard. Here are the terms: There is absolutely positively no returns on these . One unit is dead. And the other is AS-IS as shown by the pictures. Hence the low price relative to a new TAD driver. These drivers are fragile and the buyer takes all responsibility for properly using them. They will be extremely well packed and insured (hence the additional handling costs). If there is a problem, make the claim with the shipping insurance. Of course, local pick up is encouraged. I take ample photographic and video evidence to prevent returns fraud.
