You are buying a very early French edition of Astérix et les Goths, text by Rene Goscinny and illustration by Albert Uderzo.  This hardback book was published by Collection Pilote and I have dated it to 1964 using the list of books that have been published and those still to be published.  The publishing information on the reverse of the title page shows "Depot Legal 3etrimestre 1963 No. 403". The book is in poor condition.  The illustrated board covers have wear to all the corners and there is wear to the top and base of the spine.  The top of the spine is missing.  Inside the book the binding is tight.  The front free end paper which would have Obelix floating on a balloon is missing.  The rear free end paper is present.   Page 15 - A 3cm by 4cm square has been cut of the end of the title page.  The pages containing the comic illustrations are clean.  A 5cm by 3cm shape has been cut out of the top outside picture frame of page 15/16, it looks like Astérix has been cut out of the picture. Page 17 - Obelix has been cut out of the middle of page 17 from the 4th picture frame.  This also leaves a cut out hole on page 18.  The cut out hole is approx 3cm by 4cm.   Page 18 - Obelix has been cut around in the first frame on page 18, but remains attached and has not been removed.  This also effects frame 2 on page 17. Page 25 - Obelix has been cut out of frame 1 on page 25.  The hole left is approximately 4cm by 5cm and effects frame 3 on page 26. Please see the photographs.
