PRICE REDUCED AGAIN, LAST TIME I WILL BE LISTING ON EBAY Up for grabs is an amazing Technics SL-1400 MK2 This is a serious piece of vintage hi-fi, weighing in at just over 8 kilograms. It is direct drive, starts and stops almost on the spot, has a fully adjustable tonearm and an SME style removable headshell. Both 33 and 45 RPM are adjustable as is the speed which can go to plus and minus 10%, which is two more than the legendary 1210 ! The sound quality is as amazing as you would expect from such a turntable and the cartridge that is currently on it, while not high end, has not been used much and gives a decent performance for its price. But like all things vintage there will be downsides so here they are. This model and several other models in the same range suffered from a problem in the arm which caused the auto return and arm lift to not function properly. I did consider doing this myself but I am a clumsy oaf and would just makes it worse. So I shall leave it to whoever buys it from me. On the plus side, the auto return has a kill switch so it will not drag itself across the record when finished. The other downside, common on almost every vintage machine, is the anti skate spring is stretched and will need replacing. I do not have a link for it but I am sure with some looking you will find one. On the plus side, I used this for ages and it never seemed to affect the sound so maybe it is not that big an issue. But for honesty purposes I am mentioning it now. Everything else which could be considered a downside is purely cosmetic so please do take a good look at the pictures as they show the exact turntable you will be buying. None of the problems prevent it from being used nor do they affect the sound so despite them being things that need to be addressed I would not consider them things which should put you off buying this turntable. I have included a picture to show when it was in use as my main turntable. I am only selling it now as I have an SL-150 with an RB-250 arm. I am happy to post this to you and it will be insured. I know how to pack turntables so it will be nice and secure for transit. If you need any information regarding set up then please do ask as the headshell and the counterweight will be disconnected for transportation.
