Vintage, rare, Yellow-Green Victoria Stone (Imori Stone) cabochon set in an oval sterling silver pendant. The Victoria Stone has very nice chatoyancy letting the green fans dance in the light as the stone moves about. This polished stone dates to the 1960's or early 70's and accents the sterling silver setting very well - a very elegant appearance. The top of the stone is domed (total depth of the pendant is 7.5 mm) and the bottom is flat. The chain pictured is not included. This piece can be worn casual or formal. A beautiful piece to add to your collection or give as a gift for any special occasion.
This finished pendant weighs 6.5 grams (32.5 carats) and measures 43 mm x 21 mm x 7.5mm. Measurements are approximate and are measured from the longest or widest points. Please refer to the pictures for more detail or measurements shown with a ruler. Victoria Stone has a hardness of 6.
Victoria Stone (some call it Imori Stone) was created in Japan by Dr. Imori and family from the 1960's to 1990's. The stone is man-made in a sense due to Dr. Imori had a process known only to his family of mixing minerals in a lengthy process to render this gem, similar to Nephrite Jade. Therefore, the stone is a laboratory produced stone from natural raw materials, which include feldspar, quartz, magnesite, calcite, fluorspar and others. A total of seven different minerals combined under high pressure and temperature. The cooling process is the key to producing the 'fan' patterns. The unfortunate result is Dr. Imori passed away and his son continued the process until the 1990's when the production shut down. Others have tried to recreate the process but have not been able to duplicate the it so the only available Victoria stone is what is left in old collections and is non-replenishable - so, when it's gone, there is no more.
We don't alter the colors in our photographs, though digital photo colors vary between cameras and depending on the lighting where the photos are taken so please view all photos before purchasing. Naturally lighted photos will be provided whenever possible, but some photos are taken indoors. Photos of this piece were taken indoors. My apologies for any glare on any of the photos and the flash has a tendency to wash the colors, therefore, some photos may be with or without flash trying to capture the most lifelike appearance.
